MetroCon, which its organizers bill as Florida's largest anime convention, opens at the Tampa Convention Center Thursday, July 31, and runs through Saturday, August 2. The event has operated since 2003 and draws more than 15,000 fans across three days of programming.
The schedule spans cosplay competitions, voice actor panels, and an international vendor market running across all three days. The arcade floor covers 10,000 square feet. Friday evening, August 1, adds a masquerade party to the lineup.
MetroCon's run since 2003 gives it one of the longer track records among Florida's fan conventions. At 15,000-plus attendees, per the organizers, it ranks among the larger anime-focused events in the state — a figure that reflects the Tampa Convention Center's capacity to absorb competitions, a full vendor market, and a dedicated gaming floor simultaneously.
The convention opens Thursday morning. Badge options and the full panel and guest schedule are available through MetroCon's official channels ahead of the July 31 start.
