Luxen: the St. Petersburg red light therapy brand built by a nurse practitioner and her husband

Vladimir and Elise Popov founded Luxen in St. Petersburg in April 2026 not because the market needed another wellness device, but because Elise, a board-certified nurse practitioner with nine years across medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, had watched the same pattern repeat itself. Patients who committed to a course of in-office light therapy struggled to keep it up between visits. Vladimir, whose background is in logistics, saw that operational gap and built a company around it.
Two founders, one clear gap
Elise Popov, MSN, APRN-BC, is the clinical co-founder. Her nine years in dermatology gave her a precise understanding of what professional-grade light therapy requires and what makes patients give up on it between appointments. The cost of each session is one factor. The scheduling friction is another. Together they compound into a routine most people cannot realistically maintain. Vladimir Popov, who built his career in logistics, looked at those constraints the way an operations person does: as a solvable design problem.
Luxen is two people. It is not a private-label brand running on a marketing budget. Every decision, from the diode count to the wavelength selection to the test reports posted publicly on the site, runs through that founding pair. That structure shows up in the company's posture: the target customer is already informed, already has a skincare routine, and wants specifications before a purchase.
The Veil: specifications first
The product at the center of Luxen is the Veil, a cordless laser mask that runs four wavelengths: 460, 665, 850, and 1064 nm. It carries 164 medical-grade laser diodes. The device is FDA-cleared under the 510(k) pathway and has been independently tested for safety, optical output, and electromagnetic emissions. Luxen publishes the full test reports on its website. The case for making them public is straightforward: the customer Luxen is building for reads them.
A session is ten minutes. A free iPhone app tracks sessions and progress, though the mask works on its own without it. The design philosophy runs against the idea that a serious device needs to be complicated. The company's bet is that ten minutes someone will actually repeat outlasts an elaborate protocol that falls apart after a few weeks.
A full ritual, not a single product
Luxen is building a complete at-home system around the Veil. PRE-LIGHT, a copper peptide serum, is designed for use alongside the mask. The Sculpt & Glow Wand and the Roller Pro round out the line. The products are positioned as a coordinated routine rather than individual add-ons, consistent with how Elise's clinical background frames skin care: as a routine rather than a collection of one-off purchases.
The customers Luxen is designed for are already spending money on in-office sessions. They are not new to the category. They want to own the technology rather than rent it by the visit, and they arrive at a purchase with technical questions already formed. PRE-LIGHT, the Wand, and the Roller Pro are the answer to the next question: what else should the routine include.
Built here, not just shipped here
Luxen is a St. Petersburg company. Vladimir and Elise Popov live and work in the city, and the brand's identity is tied to that fact. Luxen does not present itself as a national wellness label that happens to have a Florida return address. For a product built around the premise that the best routine is the one a person will actually keep, that local accountability is part of how the founders talk about the work. St. Pete is not the backdrop. It is where the decisions get made.
