Virtulates Studios is opening a reformer Pilates studio less than a mile from downtown Tampa in late 2026, and its founding memberships are already on sale at $99 a month for unlimited classes. The studio is built around one change to the usual format: its classes are pre-filmed and led on screen by expert instructors. That format, Virtulates says, is what lets it start a class every hour from early morning to late at night.
A class every hour
Most reformer studios run a timetable built around when their instructors can teach. Virtulates plans to start a class every hour instead. Its hours are still being finalized, but the business says they are likely to run from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, with somewhat shorter hours on weekends.
Each class follows an instructor-designed workout on screen, with modifications and progressions built into every movement so members can set the work to their own level and goals. The studio describes its method as rooted in the principles of reformer Pilates, and it says beginners and experienced Pilates regulars are both welcome.
What the founding membership includes
Founding memberships are $99 a month. They include unlimited classes, a 24 hour priority booking window, two guest passes a month, complimentary grip socks, and early morning and late night studio access. The founding rate is locked for one year, and memberships can be frozen on request, according to the studio's membership page.
The first month's payment is due at sign-up. The membership itself, and its monthly billing cycle, begins with a member's first visit or automatically 14 days after the studio opens, whichever comes first. Founding memberships are sold through the Virtulates website and the studio's app.
Virtulates says the studio will also have a grip sock vending machine, along with drinks and snacks.
Built from a booking problem
The studio's founder traces the idea to a familiar frustration. The founder loved reformer Pilates but found that the class times that worked kept filling up, and schedules rarely settled far enough ahead to book around. By the time a free hour was certain, the class was often full. Cost added to it: reformer Pilates can be a significant monthly expense for anyone who wants to go regularly. The question that followed, the founder says, was whether the format could be made more convenient and more accessible while keeping the studio setting people come for.
The answer came from overseas. Screen-led reformer Pilates is already established in markets including the UK and Australia, the business says, and watching studios there use the format to widen access reinforced the founder's belief that it could meet the same need in Tampa. Virtulates describes itself as locally founded, owned and operated, and brings the format to Tampa under its own name and its own tagline, Reform the Norm.
Where to find it
The studio is at 2409 E. 2nd Avenue, Suite 1A, across from Ikea and beneath the Lector 85 apartments, less than a mile from downtown Tampa and about two miles from the University of Tampa. The sign is already up, and the storefront window reads Reformer Pilates Coming Soon. Virtulates has not set an opening date and is targeting late 2026; founding memberships are on sale now at virtulatesstudios.com.
