September 25 is now an annual day in Dolly Parton's name, designated by the Dollywood Foundation as a giving day for her Imagination Library, the literacy nonprofit that has mailed free books to children every month since 1995. Four venues around Tampa Bay are marking it today with film screenings, music bingo, tribute programming, and book drives.
Per the operator's Instagram, two of the four scheduled 9 to 5 screenings at Giggle Waters in Safety Harbor had already sold out by the time the post went up.
Giggle Waters — Safety Harbor
Giggle Waters, at 737 Main St, is screening 9 to 5 at noon, 2:30, 5:30, and 8 p.m. According to the source's Instagram, two of the four showings are already sold out.
Gulf Pine Brewing — Odessa
Gulf Pine Brewing, at 8729 Gunn Hwy, is running Dolly music bingo from 7 to 9 p.m.
BarrieHaus — Trinity
BarrieHaus, at 9945 Trinity Blvd, opens at 6 p.m. with a Jolene pleading contest, a Dolly dress-up contest, and Parton films running through the night. The venue is also serving as a collection point for Imagination Library donations, making it the evening's most direct charitable anchor.
Shuffle — Tampa Heights
Shuffle, at 2612 N Tampa St in Tampa Heights, runs from 7 to 11 p.m. with a costume contest, an open mic tribute, and a DJ set from Eric Atkins. No cover.
Sept. 25 is now a fixed annual date on the Dollywood Foundation's calendar. The current local slate spans four venues across Safety Harbor, Odessa, Trinity, and Tampa Heights — all drop-in programming, with BarrieHaus the only venue also collecting physical donations for the Imagination Library on the day itself.
