Nordstrom Rack opens its Citrus Park store on Thursday, October 22, at The Plaza at Citrus Park in northwest Tampa. The day starts early. A grand opening celebration with music and surprises begins at 8 AM, and the doors open for shopping at 9 AM. Inside the 24,700-square-foot store, the offer is the one the company leads with: great brands at great prices, at up to 70% off.
The store has been introducing itself to the neighborhood for weeks. Its Instagram account, @nordstromrack_citruspark, opened in September with a hello: "Hey CITRUS PARK! We're getting our rack ready for you." By September 26, photos the store posted showed the Nordstrom Rack sign over the entrance and "Opens Oct. 22" wraps across the front windows, with a palm tree out front.
Opening morning, hour by hour
Opening day runs on two clocks. At 8 AM, the celebration starts with music and surprises. Shoppers who come early can enter a drawing for a $1,000 Nordstrom Rack gift card, and the store's advice is to arrive early: the drawing is at 8:45 AM. The full details of the drawing are on Nordstrom Rack's event page for the grand opening.
At 9 AM, the doors open and shopping begins. The store's own line for that moment: "Shop your new store and save up to 70% on the season's best brands and styles." For anyone planning the morning, the address is 12601 Citrus Plaza Drive, Tampa, and the store's page and Instagram carry the latest updates in the days before.
Great brands at great prices
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price side of Nordstrom, and it has been, in its own words, "your destination for the very best deals, every day" since 1973. The Citrus Park store's tagline says it in four words: "Great Brands. Great Prices." About 90% of the brands at Rack are the same brands shoppers find at Nordstrom, according to the company, with new trends, styles and staples delivered every week, so the racks keep changing from week to week.
The Citrus Park store will carry women's, men's and kids' apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty and home goods, according to the store's page, which calls it "your local destination for top brands and trend-forward finds at up to 70% off" and warns that inventory moves fast. The store's team has named some of the labels shoppers can expect: Levi's, Madewell, Vince, Birkenstock, Ray-Ban and Nike. "You're going to love strutting the aisles to save up to 70% on your fave brands," the store told its followers in September.
The model matters to Nordstrom as a company, too. When it announced the Tampa store in a July 2025 release on PR Newswire, Nordstrom described Rack as its largest source of new customers. Gemma Lionello, president of Nordstrom Rack, put the Tampa opening in those terms: "We're excited to grow our footprint in the Tampa market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience."
A Rack for northwest Tampa
The new store sits at 12601 Citrus Plaza Drive, in The Plaza at Citrus Park, a shopping center owned and operated by an affiliate of Kimco Realty. Its neighbors include Best Buy, J.Crew Factory, Burlington, PetSmart, Ulta and Old Navy, so the Rack becomes one more stop on a plaza errand run.
"We look forward to being a part of the Tampa community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices," Lionello said in the announcement. Spencer Phelps, senior leasing director at Kimco Realty, called the store "a standout addition that enhances the center's appeal as a convenient and well-rounded destination for the Tampa community," and said the opening reflects the company's aim of bringing sought-after retailers to the neighborhoods it serves.
The Citrus Park store adds to a Florida presence that, at the time of the announcement, numbered six Nordstrom stores and 19 Nordstrom Rack stores, which the company said generate more than 2,800 jobs across the state.
The store is built to work with a phone as much as a shopping cart. Lionello said customers at this location would be able to pick up online orders from both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com and make returns easily. The store's page lists the services: free same-day pickup on orders bought online, ship-to-store, free online returns and contactless payment. An order placed from the couch on a weeknight can be waiting in Citrus Park the next time a shopper is at the plaza.
