Nah Dogs has its first permanent address. Jeff and Jenny Howe launched the all-vegan operation in 2019 with a single hot dog cart, building the menu around Loma Linda's Big Frank dogs — a base they've kept across seven years and into the new space. The first brick-and-mortar is now open at 18 22nd St. S. in St. Pete's Grand Central District: a 500-square-foot room with 12 seats and a small patio.
The space sits in a complex alongside Black Crow Coffee and Tombolo Books on 22nd Street South. The Howes built a following during the cart years: Nah Dogs won Creative Loafing's Best Food Pop-Up in the publication's Best of the Bay readers' poll two consecutive years and appeared on PETA's list of the country's best vegan hot dogs, per the operator's Instagram.
The menu at 22nd Street runs loaded dogs and build-your-owns on pretzel, poppyseed, and split buns. Toppings include buffalo mac and cheese, vegan bacon, fried onions, and macaroni salad. A Chicago-style dog and Fritos chili pie round out the food side; beer, wine, and soda are also available.
The room is open noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday to start. The Howes have indicated plans to expand hours as they scale into the new location.
The 22nd Street address marks the first fixed home for a brand that operated exclusively by cart since its 2019 launch. The Grand Central block, already drawing foot traffic through Black Crow Coffee and Tombolo Books, now has a food operator anchoring the complex's third tenant slot.
