Life Time opened its new Lakewood Ranch athletic club on Oct. 12, expanding its fitness and lifestyle offerings in the area. TampaBayCertified received a preview of the facility ahead of its opening.
The club has a variety of workout machines, free weights and cardio equipment. It also has three indoor and 11 outdoor pickleball courts, according to a Life Time news release, and Group Training X, also known as GTX, a high-intensity timed workout members can take at no additional cost.

Other offerings include barre and mat Pilates classes of up to 50 people, a dedicated classic Pilates studio and a reformer studio for Core. Tone. Reform, also known as CTR, the club's athletic-based reformer class. The club also has a full-service salon for hair, nails and skin, and recovery options including a cold plunge, sauna, steam room, massage chairs and a masseuse.

The club also has an indoor and outdoor bar and two swimming pools with 343 poolside chairs and cabanas, all served by waitstaff. Members can use their Life Time app to order drinks and food poolside.

Senior General Manager Steve Datte said he rarely has to tell a member no.
Natalie Bushaw, Life Time's vice president of public relations and corporate communications, also led the tour. Bushaw was a Life Time member as far back as 1999 before she joined the company in 2013.
Bushaw said members often call the club "a resort you can go to without leaving your city."
She said Life Time's property development team searches the country for places where the company can grow.
"We came into the Tampa market in 2014 initially, when we were at International Plaza," Bushaw said.
The company later bought the Harbour Island club, rebuilt it and reopened it as Life Time Harbour Island. Bushaw said she asked the company's chief property development officer where Life Time was looking next, and he said Lakewood Ranch.
