The Dalí Museum’s special exhibition “Dalí in America” closes Oct. 18, ending a run that opened May 9. The St. Petersburg museum is filling its final weeks with film, poetry, dance and Latin jazz before its annual fundraising soirée, Sueños de Dalí.
“Dalí in America” brings together paintings, drawings, photographs and ephemera in the Hough Family Wing to explore how the artist’s years in the United States shaped his work and how his work influenced American art and culture.
“Dalí’s Tarot” also closes Oct. 18 in the James Family Wing. The exhibition features nine prints from the tarot deck Dalí worked on for more than a decade before it was published in Spain in 1984. Both exhibitions are included with a Gallery Admission ticket.
Hispanic Heritage Month at The Dalí runs through Oct. 15, with several events scheduled throughout the month.
Luis Buñuel’s “The Exterminating Angel” screens Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Will Raymund Theater, followed by a discussion. Tickets are $5.
On Oct. 8, former St. Petersburg poet laureate Helen Pruitt Wallace hosts poets Carolina Hospital and Virgil Suárez. The month concludes Oct. 15 with a Latin jazz performance by Fernando Cruz at 6 p.m. The performance is free with an event ticket.
A second Buñuel film, “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” (1972), screens Oct. 29 for $10.
Dance arrives Oct. 6 with “Momentum Choreographers Showcase: Moving Surreal.” The performance features the 2026 Momentum cohort — Aynsleigh Morehouse, Curvacia Elysée, Sami Mangione and Victoria Gonzalez — performing original works inspired by “Dalí in America” and “The Architecture of The Dalí.”
