Pete's Bagels is relocating four blocks west along 1st Ave S in St. Pete's Grand Central District, moving from 2361 1st Ave S into 1900 1st Ave S — the former home of Good Intentions, the vegan restaurant that closed this summer. The operator is planning a soft opening early October.
The move ends six years in what the operator described as a structurally damaged building and puts Pete's into 4,200 square feet with a full kitchen the old location never had, more indoor seating, a larger general store section, and a bigger parking lot — a package of operational upgrades the existing address could not provide.
The full kitchen stands out: Pete's ran its entire 1st Ave S tenure without one, a constraint that was baked into the shop's format from the start. Per the operator's Instagram, Pete's said it needed a space it could grow into over the next decade. The four-block move keeps the shop in the same corridor rather than relocating to a different neighborhood, a signal of continued commitment to the Grand Central District.
Good Intentions, which operated the 1900 1st Ave S room as a vegan restaurant until closing this summer, posted on its own account that it was glad to see the space go to Pete's.
The transition keeps a food operator active at an address that had been vacant since the summer closure. Pete's general store component — an existing element of the shop that is getting a larger footprint in the new space — positions the location as something beyond a straight bagel-and-coffee counter, though the operator has not detailed what the store will carry.
The soft opening is expected early October, per the operator's Instagram announcement. Whether Pete's builds out its kitchen program immediately or phases it in has not been disclosed.
