Green Bench Brewing marks its 13th anniversary Friday by opening a full second floor at 1133 Baum Ave N in St. Pete. The new room, called Upstairs at Webb's, extends the existing Webb's City Cellar concept into a dedicated space built around texture — and how presentation, technique, and atmosphere change what's in the glass. Doors open at 4 p.m. on September 25.
Per the brewery's Instagram, the program combines familiar Green Bench favorites in unexpected presentations alongside new explorations in beer, wine, cider, and port-focused cocktails. The scope is wider than the taproom's standard lineup, and the port cocktail category in particular marks a departure from the brewery's core offering. The room opens next door to Green Bench's original taproom, with patio and beer garden access shared between both spaces.
Upstairs at Webb's sits directly above a public cellar where wild ales and sours age in up to 700 barrels — the production infrastructure that gives the floor's program its range.
The "Webb's" name draws from one of St. Pete's more unusual commercial antecedents: Webb's City Drug Store, a 1920s institution that, per the brewery, filled seven city blocks across 77 departments and ran a live mermaid show. Green Bench had already built the Webb's City Cellar concept around that reference; the new second floor extends that naming convention into a distinct room with its own program.
With the original taproom, a public barrel cellar, and now Upstairs at Webb's, the 1133 Baum Ave N address is building into a layered destination. How the wine, cider, and port cocktail program develops — and whether the second floor draws a different audience than the taproom below — will be worth watching as the format takes hold.
