The Boca Raton is heading into its centennial with two simultaneous renovation projects at the core of the historic property. The resort has engaged Curioso to redesign all 297 rooms and suites in the Cloister — the original hotel building — with completion planned for fall 2026. Running concurrently, Rockwell Group is leading a major refresh of the Mizner Center, the resort's 80,000-square-foot event complex spanning ballrooms, verandas, and terraces.
The Cloister is the older and more symbolically weighted of the two projects. As the resort's founding structure, it carries the imprint of Addison Mizner's original architectural vision — and the resort has stated its intent to keep that vision at the center of the redesign rather than displace it. Curioso's scope covers all 297 rooms and suites, a significant scale of work within a building whose historical character sets constraints that newer construction does not.
The Mizner Center renovation is the other major piece. At 80,000 square feet — distributed across ballrooms, verandas, and terraces — it constitutes a large-format event environment by any measure. Rockwell Group's appointment to lead the update was announced alongside the Cloister redesign, though a separate completion timeline for the Mizner Center work was not specified in the announcement.
The resort frames both projects as part of a broader, property-wide evolution — sustained recapitalization tied to the centennial milestone rather than a single-event refresh. The dual-track approach, with different design firms handling distinct building types, reflects the different demands each project carries: a historic guest room renovation in the Cloister versus a large-format event space overhaul in the Mizner Center.
