Il Fiore, the Italian restaurant and deli at 9874 Yamato Road in West Boca, has closed, ending chef and author Michael Monaco's run at the address, according to the operator's Instagram.

Monaco led the concept — a combination restaurant and deli rooted in Italian cooking — through its tenure in West Boca. The Instagram announcement described the closure as the end of a "longtime" chapter but did not specify a final date of service.

Before opening Il Fiore, Monaco spent decades working in North Jersey kitchens. He later turned those years into Cooking for Wiseguys, a book that drew on his restaurant experiences alongside encounters with organized-crime figures and people connected to Frank Sinatra's circle. The North Jersey provenance gave the restaurant a particular backstory that distinguished it within South Florida's Italian dining landscape.

No announcement has been made about the next tenant for the Yamato Road address.
